Duval County Supervisor of Elections Office Partners with Jacksonville Icemen, Jumbo Shrimp and Sharks to Promote National Poll Worker Recruitment Day on August 23, 2023

JACKSONVILLE – Duval County Supervisor of Elections, Jerry Holland, is excited to announce a partnership with the Jacksonville Icemen, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp and Jacksonville Sharks to promote National Poll Worker Recruitment Day on Wednesday, August 23, 2023.

National Poll Worker Recruitment Day is a National Day of Action established by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) to encourage people to help America vote by signing up to be a poll worker. By encouraging more people to become poll workers, National Poll Worker Recruitment Day is addressing the critical need for poll workers, strengthening democracy, inspiring greater civic engagement and volunteerism, and helping America vote.

“To promote this important day, we will collaborate on a social media initiative with the Jacksonville Icemen, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, and the Jacksonville Sharks” Holland said.

“Poll workers are the heart and soul of our elections. With these committed community partners, we will promote National Poll Worker Recruitment Day to invite registered Duval County voters to join our team as we all work to ensure fair, accurate and accessible elections,” Holland added.

On August 23, 2023, each of our National Poll Worker Recruitment Day partners listed above will release a social media postcard branded to their sports team. The postcards will share a QR code and/or link, driving people to the Duval County Supervisor of Elections’ website where they can find information on how to serve and earn and while there, they can fill out our on-line poll worker application form.

Please watch for this collective social media initiative potentially reaching over 300,000 people on August 23, 2023, National Poll Worker Recruitment Day.

For questions about this expansive voter awareness initiative, please contact Greg Clark, Director of Education, Outreach and Poll Worker Recruitment, for more information. His email address is gaclark@duvalelections.gov, and his mobile telephone number is 904-742-1277.

Becoming a poll worker is a great way to step up for your community and strengthen our democracy.
